On October 18, 2023, Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, met with Indonesian President Joko and Egyptian Prime Minister Madbouly respectively in Beijing.
When meeting with Jokowi, Zhao Leji said that Indonesia is one of China’s most important regional partners in cooperating with the construction of the “Belt and Road”. Ten years ago, President Xi Jinping initiated the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” in Indonesia. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Mr. President, the two countries have aligned the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Maritime Pivot concept, and achieved fruitful results in mutually beneficial cooperation, playing an important demonstration role in strengthening regional cooperation. China is willing to work with Indonesia to jointly build the “Belt and Road” with high quality, strengthen friendly exchanges between the legislative bodies, and inject strong impetus into the respective modernization processes of the two countries and regional development and prosperity.
Joko said that the Indonesia-China comprehensive strategic partnership has made great progress in the past 10 years, and the Indonesian National Assembly and the National People’s Congress of China have maintained good relations. The two countries should strengthen cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promote the continuous development of bilateral relations.

When meeting with Madbouly, Zhao Leji said that in recent years, under the joint leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Sisi, the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership has developed rapidly, and the relations between the two countries have reached the best level in history. China and Egypt are natural partners in jointly building the “Belt and Road”. The two sides have solid political mutual trust, practical cooperation has achieved positive results and has broad prospects. The National People’s Congress of China is willing to work with the Egyptian Parliament to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state as the main line, strengthen friendly exchanges at all levels, deepen the exchange of experience in state governance, provide legal guarantee for China-Egypt pragmatic cooperation, and promote common development.
Madbouly said that Egypt deeply admires the great achievements made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and looks forward to learning from China’s experience. The two countries have achieved fruitful results in jointly building the “Belt and Road”. Egypt is willing to intensify high-level exchanges with China, firmly support each other, and accelerate cooperation in various fields.
