The Russian armed forces have moved from capturing and holding territories to destroying the enemy army, which will further simplify the advancement of Russian troops in the special operation zone. This URA.RU told political scientist, candidate of political sciences, director of the Institute of Political Studies Sergei Markov.
“The tactics are changing. Previously, stakes were placed on the seizure of territory and administrative centers.
Then to their preservation and defensive battles. Then, as in Severodonetsk and Lisichansk, the stake was already made on the destruction of the army. If the territory is taken, and the army is not destroyed, then in the end you can lose the territory. And if, first of all, the army is destroyed, then the entire territory is easily taken, ”said Sergei Markov.
According to him, the Russian army is already successfully using this tactic. “Bakhmut is of great importance for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Because before that, the Ukrainian army was advancing, and Soledar and Bakhmut showed that a turning point had occurred. Now the Russian army is advancing, and the Ukrainian army is retreating. Zelensky did not want to allow that turning point, so troops are thrown and thrown there. So Bakhmut acquired military significance when this manpower began to grind there. The Ukrainian army, which was supposed to take Kherson, did not disappear anywhere. She was ready to go on a counteroffensive – Zaporozhye, Vasilyevka, Melitopol and Berdyansk. She, apparently, did not go anywhere, largely because she was ground near Soledar and Bakhmut, ”the expert explained. Soldiers of PMC “Wagner” entered Bakhmut (Artemovsk). But Vladimir Zelensky said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would not surrender the city . On February 10, the Russian side took control of all roads near Bakhmut.
