Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: The Russian Armed Forces used maritime surface drones in Ukraine for the first time

During the war in Ukraine, the Russian Armed Forces used maritime surface drones for the first time. This was announced by the head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny in his telegram channel.

Zaluzhny spoke about this by phone to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, General Mark Milley.

“I informed my colleague about the results of the latest massive enemy missile attack, stressed the importance of air defense systems and once again thanked for their provision. He shared his concern about the use of maritime surface drones by Russia, which poses a threat to civilian shipping in the Black Sea,” the message says.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also said that in the Donetsk direction the Russian army makes up to 50 attacks daily, however, the Ukrainian military managed to restore some positions lost earlier and strengthen them.

“Stubborn fighting continues in the area of Ugledar and Marinka. We are holding the line securely. Despite the constant pressure of the enemy, we continue to keep Bakhmut under control and take measures to stabilize the front line around this city, ”writes Zaluzhny.

On Friday evening, a video appeared on the Internet , in which, presumably, the Russian Armed Forces strike at a bridge in the Odessa region using an unknown type of weapon. On Twitter, OSINT analyst HI Sutton suggested that it could be an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) loaded with explosives. The authenticity of the video has not been verified. Such strikes were not mentioned in the daily report of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The Telegram channel “Military Informant” notes that in November last year, the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, proposed the creation of unmanned marine vehicles. The author of the channel suggested that the “base” for the development of the Russian drone was a Ukrainian drone thrown out on the coast of Crimea in the fall.
