Ukraine: Russian plane shot down near Bakhmut

The Ukrainian border service reported that on Saturday, February 11, a Russian military aircraft, most likely a Su-25, was shot down near Bakhmut.

According to the service, the aircraft of the Russian army was shot down by a portable anti-aircraft missile. After hitting the ground, the plane exploded. Since no parachute was visible in the sky, the pilot probably died.

This is the second Russian combat aircraft destroyed in this way in the Bakhmut region in a week.

Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine has been going on for almost a year – since February 24, 2022. According to various estimates, the losses in manpower on both sides have already amounted to tens of thousands of people, millions of Ukrainians have left their country or become internally displaced persons. The war in Ukraine is the largest armed conflict in Europe since the end of World War II.
