Ukraine imposed sanctions against 199 Russians and one Ukrainian

Ukraine has imposed sanctions against 200 people associated with Russia. The corresponding decree was signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Under the restrictions were Yuri Ushakov, assistant to the President of Russia and member of the Supervisory Board of Rosatom, Yuri Ushakov, assistant to the President Larisa Brycheva, adviser to the head of Rosatom Renat Karchaa, ex-chief of the military-industrial commission Igor Borovkov and Russian-appointed director of the Zaporizhzhya NPP Yuri Chernichuk. He is the only Ukrainian on the sanctions list.

In early February, Zelensky imposed sanctions on 200 companies from Russia, including Rosatom, its subsidiaries and other firms in the nuclear industry. The list includes FSUE “Zaporozhye NPP”.

Zaporizhia NPP has been occupied by Russian troops since the beginning of March. It is periodically subjected to shelling, in which Moscow and Kyiv accuse each other. The Ukrainian side claims that the station employees were forced to enter into contracts with Rosatom.

The European Union is considering the introduction of the tenth package of sanctions against Moscow due to aggression against Ukraine. New restrictions may affect the nuclear sector.
